Dear RBS Family,           May 10, 2024

As we wrap up Staff Appreciation week, we have been reflecting on the gratitude we feel for so many aspects of ‘life at RBS’ - our awesome students, the amazing families, and the Avon community as a whole. Although this week is dedicated to our unparalleled staff, it could not happen without the support from our entire RBS family, and we are continually grateful for that partnership and connection - truly.

Our thankfulness continues, with the coordinated efforts of the PTO and Student Council, our school-wide hat day fundraiser held on Friday, May 3 was a huge success!  We managed to raise $1,118.55 to support members of our Avon community impacted by the fire at Avon Place. Thank you again to everyone who donated and/or wore a hat to show their support; we know that our friends and neighbors in need will be helped greatly by this effort.

On Tuesday, May 7th we held a school-wide assembly to support our Read-A-Thon theme of “Just Keep Reading.”  We had some volunteers from 4th grade share poems that celebrated reading and we also did a whole school ‘read along’ to add to our minutes for the Read-A-Thon Fundraiser. As of yesterday, RBS has read 69, 617 minutes!  Way to go RBS and remember to just keep reading!

Finally, we reviewed recess expectations at our assembly. With the warm weather and end of the year approaching, we wanted to reiterate our 3 Bs regarding being safe, being a good sport, and following adult directions. We know recess provides a much needed break from the structure of the classroom - please join us in messaging these expectations at home to ensure a positive experience for everyone

Two items to note:

  • Please consider completing our quick one question ‘End of year’ anonymous survey - linked HERE

  • Attached in today’s message is the necessary paperwork for any students withdrawing from RBS. Please complete and send to the RBS office as soon as you can if you know you will be withdrawing students for the ‘24 - ‘25 school year, as this helps us best plan for the upcoming school year.
