Midsummer Letter

Dear RBS Family,
There’s a saying in our field about summer break being a little bit like a weekend: June is Friday, with the “wrapping up” and delightful release that comes with the end of the work/school week on a Friday evening; July is a relaxed Saturday, and – you can see where I’m going – August is a
“Sunday” – resting and relaxing, maybe a nice brunch, and then ‘back to work.’ Now, you’re reading this only at the start of August, so it’s still pancakes and eggs time – no stressing yet, only excitement! And there’s wonderful work going on behind the scenes planning for the upcoming year; here’s a few updates to read/share/enjoy!

First, our summertime work always means bringing a few new faces onto the team, so please join me in welcoming on board Mrs. Danielle Roy in Kindergarten, Mr. Chris Michaud as our new Safety/Security Specialist, and Ms. Jennifer Stabnick as our new (split-with-PGS) Art teacher! We’ll be hiring for a few new support staff members as the summer goes on, and we’ll keep you posted!
Some pragmatics to begin putting on your calendars:

Teacher placements for your children will be available via PowerSchool on Thursday, August 18th

We will host a “Sneak Peek” here at RBS for your students to come in, say “Hi,” see their classroom and teacher, and get excited for the school year on Friday, August 26th PK and Kindergarten Sneak Peek/Orientation at 10:00 – 11:00 AM Grades 1-4 Sneak Peek at 1:00 – 2:00 PM

And finally, we will be hosting our Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 1st 5:30 PM – 7:45 PM, following this schedule:

I wish you all many more pool days, golf swings, ice-cream treats and all the other special joys of summer, but also can’t wait to have our amazing kids back in the building at the end of the month. Stay tuned for any more needed details about our return as we work hard to finalize plans, and on
behalf of the whole team here at Roaring Brook School, we are delighted to welcome you – or welcome you back – to School Year 2022-23!

Noam, Susan, and the whole RBS team
